Never thought I’d end up creating anything on social media one day..

But sadly I have to agree that we’re responsible to push the world into a healthier direction.

It really does feel cringe and cliché to reach for attention grab tactics if you want to have more than 3 people reading your posts. It’s even frustrating.

But I’ll try my best to swallow my pride I guess.

Thanks for the big picture thinking as always.

I resonate with this. I struggle with shameless attention grabbing tactics even though I know at some point it's necessary. I do my best to dumb down my content but even then I think it may be pushing the territory of too much complexity. It's tough to edit yourself to that level, it feels like there's nothing left.

Yeah, and then your writing doesn’t even feel like you anymore since you’ve censored it beyond recognition just so it “fits”.

Here’s to detaching from unrealistic expectations

It is what it is. Hook them. Please them. Retain them. Nurture them. Upgrade them. Then you get to write as you like. Sensei's job xD

Same. What I find harder it that people don't want the deep truths, only the positivity content. So I have to keep the positivity to deep truths ratio at about 6:1.

I think a sweet spot will likely emerge over time with attention grabbing to depth.

When social media was rising, there was so much positivity towards what it could be and how much positive change it could possibly bring to the world. I saw the rise of so-called “citizen journalism” and, for a while, it was hopeful.

Then, the social networks changed and in came the algorithms.

It was all downhill from there.

Not social media, casino media.

The feed pays for spikes, so we get pranks and platitudes.

Long form creates value, short form sells it.

Reverse that and you rot.

This is definitely a blessing for those of us who have always been more interested in creating something meaningful on social media. The wise will take advantage🥂

Really loved this one Dan... You're prolific. I can hardly read as fast as you can write these things. Cheers, my friend.

I’ve been trying to figure this out for a while, almost a year now. I would quit for a week, get so bored and wouldn’t know what to do with myself and open it up again. I’ll try these ideas you suggested.

Creating on social media has always been IT, even when I'm tired, I still find myself drawn back to creating content. Thank you for this insightful letter, Dan. I had to jot down a couple of mindblowing points.

What a practical approach and challenge. I did your human 3.0 and this is exactly what it called me out on. It said if you have a message to give to the world, go give it. Otherwise you’re just criticizing and standing in judgement without offering solutions. I’ve changed my approach.

I really appreciated this post. It helped to validate some of the things I have been working on. It also helped me to see a couple of blind spots where I can be better. I will definitely be taking some inspiration from this into my own work

Je suis clairement un level 2 creator, à l’exception d’avoir 48 inscrits et non 47. Merci pour les tips Dan, en route pour le level 3 alors ! Thks
