Wow, this really hits home.. I realized this year that I'm not where I want to be because I am actually afraid to be there, and on a level it felt safer to just stay where I am (even though I've been complaining about it for a long time now). It was a tough pill to swallow. Looking forward to working through your framework tomorrow.

Yes. It is always the mindset. As I reply someone yesterday, I think the decision a person makes at a specific moment is the best decision they can make based on their understanding at that time. But if you open your senses and start proactively taking in more useful information, your understanding will evolve. Understanding is dynamic. I don’t believe there is ever a state of “fully understanding,” because understanding is always changing. So, change mindset is the first priority.

Reminds me of one of my favorites…

"The only reason that you don't have what you want is because you didn't really want it.

The only reason that you have the thing that you do is because you couldn't live without it.

And, the only reason that you are where you are is because somewhere within, it is OK to be there."

Love it!

Surface levels plans get surface level results. Change must happen at our foundation. Changing your lifestyle or daily habits makes the goal achievable, not surface level motivation.

Why is your writing so condescending to the reader? 🙂

I don’t find this condescending.

Maybe you’ve been triggered - and that is one of the greatest gifts a writer can give a reader.

Good construct aware thinking. It’s not condescending - he is sharing advice on how he operates that he thinks will be useful to others. You can take and leave whichever parts resonate with you.

Not to "the reader" but to you as a reader for some reason.

I don't get that feeling at all, but what we feel and what we read into texts are personal.

I loved this email and found so many words of wisdom in it.

There are as many “readers” as people. Each one is different.

You think condescending, I think challenging and way, way, beyond the usual dribble about setting goals.

But again, there is no “right way” to think about these ideas. They hit at different places at different times.

Tbh, this is wisdom. And wisdom is truth. Truth is not always comfortable I get it. But being open minded gets you in a spot to be receptive to things your ego wouldn’t even like until trained to do its default job.

Step 1 is the hardest but most effective - identity shift. If you’re able to integrate the identity of who you want to be, everything that follows is frictionless. But that is so much easier said than done 🤣🤣

This is excellent, especially the clarity around identity and unconscious goals.

I’ve been exploring the same terrain from a somatic + seasonal lens, where winter is about release before vision. I shared a reflection on that this week for anyone interested in a slower entry point. https://drsebaa.substack.com/p/slow-down-winter-has-questions-for

Appreciate the rigor here.
